I must admit I got a bit carried away, but just a bit. A few months ago,
I said that I absolutely hate this thick brow trend and I still do. But I
started to like polished (groomed and fixed) brows, just a tiny bit thicker
which are a lightly emphasized, usually with a pencil. Got the picture? I got
rid of my Essence clear brow gel, which became just horrible and was doing
absolutely no good for me. It was like mild paper glue, turning into visible white
rolls when dried, which stuck on and around my brows. Just useless. Then I
discovered brow wax, which by my opinion looks better then gel. Gel ˝shrinks˝
brows too much, so they can look unnatural, some even gave wet look. Firstly I
was very tempted to try the one from Anastasia Beverly Hills, but then I read
on several beauty blogs, that there’s a good dupe for it from Milani.
I ordered Milani’s clear shaping wax on ebay, since it’s not sold in my
country (what a surprise). I’ve got
mixed feelings about it. It gives my brows nice, shiny look and holds them
quite good, but not strongly, which bothers me. And if I add another layer, it
can look greasy. So I’m still in search for my perfect fixing product. I always
comb my brows after application, because they look better like that. If I apply
it over brow pencil, it doesn’t mess with the color and everything looks ok. The
packaging is simple and nice; wax comes in a black pencil with a clear plastic
cap.
Then I was tempted to buy something to fill in my brows just slightly.
Powder, pencil, marker or brow mascara? Pencil it is. I believe it looks the
most natural, since I’m not for dramatic look and it’s easy to use. I’m not an
expert in applying makeup, so the last factor is very important, I don’t want
to look like a witch. A few days ago I went in the city, 90% of girls had
filled brows and a lot of them looked just terrible – sorry. Anyway I bought
myself a pencil from Bourjouis.
It’s their Sourcil precision in shade Brun
Brunette, a dark brown color. It has a very good on line reviews and looks
natural on pictures – and me, I believe. It’s really appropriate for a brow
beginner like me, just a few light strokes, quick brushing to even out the
product even more and you’re done. I don’t change the shape of my brows with it
or make them bigger, I just stress them a bit, so they look darker. I’m very
happy with the result, but the longevity is not so brilliant if you don’t fix
them afterwards. The pencil is simple; it has a little brush on the cap, which
is very useful and practical.
˝Naked˝ brows
Filled in with pencil
Pencil&fixed with wax
Since these are my first ˝serious˝ brow products, I can’t compare them
with others yet. I’m happy with both, so I would recommend them, because of the
quality and the price.
