As a person who is not into fresh, citrusy fragrances, picking a signature summer scent, can be quite difficult. I cannot stand those lemony waters, accompanied by cucumbers or god forbid cedar at the drydown. I want to smell clean, but not boring.
This year’s flanker of Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess line, named Aegea stands out from its previous versions. I am not familiar with all of them, but I can confidently say that this is very different, apparently, it has much more in common with the Aerin’s line.
Aegea was inspired by the escape to Greek islands, full of lush fig trees and green floral and named after the Aegean Sea.
Notes listed on Fragrantica:

Bergamot, Violet Leaf, Ylang-Ylang
MIDDLE
Fig Nectar, Bougainviallea, Jasmine Sambac
BASE
Coconut Milk, Musk, Sandalwood
It was a pleasant surprise because it stands out from recent popular summer releases. I would describe it as a dusty fig, with some green flowers and a bergamot in the background. There’s a bit of sweetness, but not too much. The sweet part is very shy. On my skin, the fig is dominating the whole time. It is dry, but fruity at the same time. Maybe because of the musk.
The fragrance is very light and short-lived. I like to wear it on my days off or in the afternoon, just to refresh myself when I return from the office. It works more as a body spray to me, and it’s nice in this hot summer. I find it very casual, maybe even sporty, but still serious, because of the lack of that girly sweetness.
The bottle is stunning and captures this Greek theme beautifully. Also, the packaging was a true reflection of the inspiration, but I threw it away too soon – sorry :=
I like it, but it’s not worth the price, because it just disappears so quickly. Other versions of the Bronze Goddess are richer, fuller, and long-lasting, but this is watery. If you are into into fig note but would like something sweeter and a bit richer, I would strongly recommend you to try – Fico Di Amalfi by Acqua di Parma.
