First impressions: Bioderma Sebium mat control and L'oreal Extraordinary Oil Cleansing Milk-Oil

My skin care routine which was great for fall and winter, let me down completely recently. Micellar water from Balea that I was using, gone bad after five months, even it had a sign that you can use it in a year after opening. Some kind of dirty little parts were swimming in it. My Vichy Normaderm daily moisturizer was not helping me to control my greasy skin at all. The only thing that is good for a whole year round is a Night detox cream also from Vichy, that’s a permanent part in my face care.

As I said, my skin got super oily in these hot days. I need to blot my face every time I go to the bathroom during work - that means about three times in eight hours. And it’s not just T-zone that’s causing me a problem, but recently also cheeks. How can I use a highlighter or shiny blush if I have already enough of shine like everywhere. I always use pressed powder - Stay matte from Rimmel, but is rescues the situation just for short period of time.

So I decided to make some changes. Firstly, find a good mattifying moisturizer. My first thought was again Vichy, but it turned out that the only thing that is entirely good from them that night cream that I already own. Their mattifying creams are with poor ingredients and full of alcohol, which can be very bad for skin and cause irritations.  Secondly I remembered La Roche Posay. Their products have much better reviews also from experts, but the praised more the ingredients, not so much capability to mattify.

Then I found a Sebium range for oily and combination skin from Bioderma. Reviews were very promising, also prices, so that quickly convinced me to buy it. I choose Sebium mat control cream. It comes in a very sleek classic 30ml tube. It has a fresh and quite strong smell, but that goes away quickly after application. I got a feeling as If I’m applying some kind of primer, because it leaves a skin very smooth and nice matt, for quite a long time. It would be a very good base for applying foundation. The results so far have been surprisingly good. My skin was a bit greasy and shiny, but in a good, healthy way. I still have to blot once during work time – so I would say, it holds for me (with using a powder) for about 4 hours . I am very happy with this purchase, maybe results will get even better with time.

L'oreal Extraordinary Oil Cleansing Milk-Oil is a new product in our drugstores. It’s a gentle makeup cleaner for sensitive and dry skin; you can use it even for removing eye makeup. It seems it was available on East European and Australian market before, but still I couldn’t find it anywhere between reviews. In USA for example, similar product from Extraordinary line exist as cleansing oil, here as milk-oil and cleansing gel.

This is a replacement for micellar water, because I got tired of them. I still think that oily/milky products do their job a bit better and are gentler, especially on my sensitive eyes. The same is with this product; it’s very effective and does not irritate my eyes. It has medium thick consistency and soft pleasant smell. I can’t tell if it removes waterproof makeup, because I don’t own it at this moment. What is bothering me a bit is that this cleanser leaves a bit greasy trace, but I clean that later with a toner anyway. The packaging is nice, gold and elegant, similar to other cleansers from L’oreal. I didn’t noticed and troubles with the cap opening, so I believe it’s suitable for travel.
