Book review: Jennifer Lopez - True love

This is not typical celebrity autobiography. It’s a story about healing a broken heart after yet another divorce, self discovery and creating a world tour. I’m not the biggest fan of Jennifer, maybe because of her turbulent love life. It’s not nice from me, but deep down inside I believed, that after so many breakouts, must be something wrong with her. She is clearly not capable to be with somebody, also might be bossy and always in center of attention, because of her fame. But somehow trough her story, she almost fully convinced me, that I was wrong.

After divorcing Marc Anthony she felt depressed, lost and hit the rock bottom. But after some time she realized that she needs major changes in her life. Her mission was to find herself, accepting challenges and doing things she has never done before – going on her first world tour.

Jennifer is describing the process of making her big music show and at the same time process of her healing with major help of her music, family, friends, connection with fans and of course her twins. On the tour she came to some realizations about herself and her past relationships. The main message of this book is that we all need to learn how to love ourselves first. But this is not a selfish love like: me, only me and just me. It’s a healthy and grounded love, the decision that we listen our heart and take care of ourselves.

The book was motivational for me and made me think about myself and my low self esteem. It includes some good quotes, advices, thoughts and facts, but nothing profound and groundbreaking. It’s ˝nice˝ to read that such a famous and beautiful person has troubles with her own image. Money can’t buy you everything. Thumbs up for her, because she wrote the story herself. Included images are very beautiful and tasteful and there are a lot of them. Book is more like fashion magazine, made of fancy glossy paper. It is very beautiful, elegant and appealing. After reading this book I see Jennifer from other perspective and like her more.
