NYX Illuminating stick ˝Lavender lust˝ & similar options

Now, when summer days are far behind us and my skin is not super shiny anymore, I’m so much more enthusiastic about highlighting. I got rid of my Makeup Revolution highlighter, because it was just not for my skin tone. I mean it looked beautiful, but I found that I like cool toned highlighters so much more. It’s no secret I believe, that I adore lavender shades and my big wish was to find a true lilac highlighter. As I discovered during my search, this is not so easy to find. There are some great, but expensive and for me unavailable options. Shipping costs and conditions to my country can be just silly.

Then I found NYX illuminating stick in ˝Lavender lust˝, which came out in July if I’m not mistaken. I never heard of this before, because here, NYX is not so popular. Their products are mostly sold in web shops and in limited selection. The first real NYX shop was open just a few days ago in Zagreb, Croatia (35km from my town), but I don’t know how many different items they offer. Let’s get back to the point… Bright idea is a cream to powder illuminator/highlighter in stick. It’s quite pigmented and shimmery, so I use it with a light hand. It blends very well. The color changes, depending on light – from sliver, pink to lilac. It’s not perfect lavender, but I like it. I use it very often, sometimes just alone. I think it makes me more alive and less pale. I also like to wear it on the top of my matte lavender blush, or like a sparkly eyeshadow. Color fades away nice and evenly, shimmer stays on for a longer time.

Bright idea comes in 12 shades; some are more like bronzers or blusher, other more like highlighters. The packaging is simple and made of quality plastic. The only down side is that you can ruin the top of the stick with a cap, when you’re closing your highlighting ˝pen˝. It doesn’t go down, inside enough when is still newer. It originally costs 8$, but I overpaid it on Ebay.

Although I love it, I'm still on hunt for a perfect lavender shades.

Here are some other products I found:

1.Milk Makeup holographic stick in ˝Supernova˝ 28$ – beautiful color, but not very appropriate for subtle office makeup I believe. I can only buy it on Ebay for astronomical price, so I sadly passed this.

2.Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow kit highlighter palette ˝Moonchild˝ 40$ – I think this is unique and gorgeous palette for versatile use and bolder looks. I’m too boring and conservative in my makeup looks, so it would be a shame and almost a crime to buy this. Especially the shade ˝Purple horseshoe˝ is perfect. Sadly the price is not very appealing.

3.Makeup revolution ˝Pink lights˝ 5$ – this highlighter is, as far as I can tell by the pictures I've seen, only partly lilac and more pink and silver. If you’re not so picky about particular shades, it will be for you. My love for Makeup Revolution products has gone, although I still use one from their eyeshadow palettes.

4.MAC cosmetics powder blush ˝Full of joy˝ 22$ – this is well known MAC product, it’s one on their blushes and not a proper highlighter. I choose to put it on this list, because I think it would be nice as subtle highlighter, because it contains some frosty shimmer. It’s not pure lavender for me, more cool toned pink, but I never saw it with my own eyes. Anyway it’s on my wish list and as soon as I get a chance to get near a MAC counter I might buy it.
