˝Want to try˝ list

I don’t need a new fragrance of course, but there’s always some kind of list. Mine is called ˝When is use up… I will buy…˝. Sounds familiar? I just bought myself mini fragrance from Marc Jacobs a few days ago and a full bottle of Black Opium in September, so no more for me this year.

Yves Sain Lurent – Mon Paris

Strawberry, raspberry, pear, Calabrian bergamont, calone, orange, tangerine

Based on notes and reviews I doubt I will like it, but the bottle is just so gorgeous that I need to give it a try. Maybe this sounds very shallow and childish, but the packaging is almost as important as product itself. And yes I often judge book by its covers. Mon Paris is not in our stores yet, but it supposed to come by the end of this month, so I’m excited about this one.

Dolce Gabanna – Pour Femme Intense
(2013, oriental floral)
Top notes
Green mandarin, neroli
Middle notes
Tuberose, orange blossom
Base notes
Sandalwood, marshmallow

I own ˝regular˝ Pour Femme version, which I like, but can be sometimes too sweet and cloying. Intense version supposed to be fresher, lighter and less sweet – the opposite of the name Intense. So I’m curious how this one smells and if ˝the down˝ side of the previous flanker is repaired. This fragrance is often on sale maybe because it’s not very popular.

Viktor & Rolf – Bonbon
(2014, floral fruity gourmand)
Top notes
Mandarin orange, orange, peach
Middle notes
Caramel, orange blossom, jasmine
Base notes
Guaiac wood, sandalwood, amber, cedar

Now this is almost called perfection. Very beautiful and unique bottle which contains special caramel - orange smell. Even the price is a bit justified. My only concern is that the smell can be too much sweet and over the top when you wear it. I tested this only on paper, so I can’t really tell how it develops on the skin. If it’s fresh enough then would be great. I’m always looking for something I can wear all the time, not just on special occasions.

Marc Jacobs - Daisy Dream
(2014, floral fruity)
Top notes
Blackberry, grapefruit, pear
Middle notes
Wisteria, jasmine, litchi
Base notes
White wood, musk, coconut

Based on descriptions I could easily like this. I have a hard time finding a fragrance for warmer days, because I like heavier scents, especially orientals. Summer fragrances can be too flat and watery, without a character and just simply boring. I got attracted firstly of course by the cute bottle and secondly by coconut note. Most Marc Jacobs fragrances supposed to have an issue with longevity hope this one doesn’t.
Givenchy – Play
(2008, oriental floral)
Top notes
Orange blossom, bergamot, pink pepper, sweet pea, peach
Middle notes
Tiare flower, orchid, amyris, magnolia
Base notes
Musk, sandalwood, patchouli, benzoin, tonka bean

Recently I’ve been using a product with orchid scent and I felt in love with the smell. So I searched for fragrances with orchid notes and this one caught my eye. Again yes, I adore the packaging. Although is not trendy and revolutionary anymore is still appealing. The idea of orchids and pepper sounds interesting, but the reviews online are not so promising. I simply need to give it a try.

Gucci – Bamboo
(2015, floral)
Top notes
Bergamot
Middle notes
Ylang-ylang, Casablanca lily, orange blossom
Base notes
Amber, sandalwood, Tahitian vanilla

I gave it a try on a super hot summer day. I remember it as very fresh, light, floral and uplifting. Something clean and simple, but I don’t like the price of it. Gucci is expensive; it will still need to convince me that it is special enough and worth the money. Yes, I don’t like the bottle very much.
