I've been planning to renovate my room for some years, but a few weeks
ago I finally decided to go in action. Some pieces of furniture were just so
old and used that they need a replacement. Writing desk for example was from my
father’s childhood, carpet was at least 40 years old and so on. Of course my
father thinks that new furniture is not necessary, but I don’t really care for
antiques – joke. So I wanted to replace my desk and carpet, buy smaller chest
of drawers, new office chair and maybe some accessories. Quite some things,
right? I’m almost done with renovation now. The hardest thing was filled up new
closet space and decided what I need to throw away. I’m still a bit confused
and often searching for my things, because I don’t remember where I put them.
Carpet was first and the hardest thing to choose. It was also more
expensive that I originally wanted to pay for, but I’m very satisfied with my
purchase. It’s made of natural materials, very soft to touch and what is the
most important, it gives me that comfortable feeling of home. I choose natural
brown and beige colors, with some addition of orange and blue. It includes
great mixture of colors, somehow neutral, but not boring. Of course, that’s my
opinion. At the beginning of my search, I wanted carpet in gray palette, but in
person that looked somehow too serious and sad. I’m obsessed with gray when it
comes to shoes and bags, but there’s no enough room for it in my home décor.
New desk is smaller, but wider. I bought smaller then I own, because I
don’t need so much drawers anymore. I wanted something simple, sleek and
elegant, just to put my computer and lamp on. It was not so easy to choose,
because a lot of desks are just too wide for my small room. Two made in final
round, at the end this one won.
Chair was bought as my early birthday present by my boyfriend. This is
one of a few I actually like, I just this kind of chairs are so ugly. I like
that is small, elegant and coated in fabric. I hate cheap fake leather. Maybe
it’s not the most comfortable on the world, but I can still improve that with
some pillow. I like it, thank you Krištof!
Desk lamp. I don’t know which one should I buy, I’m just sure about the
color – it will be silver. I think black would be too ˝sharp˝ for my room. Also
I’m not super exited about newer technologies; I like older versions of lamps
more. For now I installed one of my older lamps back, it needed some deeper
cleaning and now it’s great again.
Smaller chest of drawers or ˝komoda˝ (I believe that’s Polish) as we say replaced old wooden box where I keep things that I don’t use anymore. It was full of my school books, toys (to be clear, toys from my childhood ;)). I’ll finally throw that away, but I’ll keep my Lego’s of course. I picked ˝komoda˝ with 2 drawers and some shelf space under them. In drawers I put my fragrances and jewelry that I don’t wear often. Shelves are new home for my shoes.
I forgot something important. I felt in love with small tabourets with
wooden legs and fluffy fabric and had to buy one. I also invested in some green plants, hope they will have along and healthy life in my room. I’m still on a hunt for one of those bed covers, because my
bedding is usually colorful and full of patterns and doesn’t fit in at this
moment. I think simple cover will rescue the situation, I'm just not sure about it yet.
