Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush: Sisters first

Apparently miracles do happen, because I actually managed to finish reading a book! A few months ago I was intrigued to buy ˝Sisters first˝ by Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush. I thought that their life for sure couldn’t be boring or average. Book also had really good reviews. I watched some interviews with Bush twins and they seemed to be so normal and funny. I didn’t know much about them, except the obvious things that their father and grandfather were presidents of USA.

I must admit, my first thought about former first daughters was that they are super privileged and spoiled, living only from their family’s wealth. I had no clue that Jenna now works as TV correspondent and Barbara is cofounder of nonprofit health organization.

Book is written really well and they wrote it by themselves without cooperation, what is a plus. Each chapter contains separate stories from Jenna and Barbara, so we get to know them also as individuals. A mean they went through very similar things in their childhood, they very always together, but each of them has a different point of view and experiences things differently. Their stories never bored me and I always wanted to know more. This was easy, relaxing often funny and interesting reading. They write about childhood, living with Secret service protection, anecdotes, their insecurities and disappointments. I maybe expected some more details about life in the White house or some ˝juicy stuff˝, but this simply is not the meaning of their story. The point of this book is to show a tight connection between two sisters, who simply cannot imagine life without each other.
