Festive Yankee candles

Lately, I’ve become a big fan of scented candles, but I am a very sensitive and picky consumer. I hate those fake interpretations of certain scents. For instance, fake vanilla makes me nauseous, strong fragrances cause me headaches and I can’t stand overly sweet stuff…

This season I decided to order my first proper Christmas candles. I wanted something traditional and fresh, containing pines, maybe some dry fruit and spices. Something simple and familiar. And luckily this is exactly what I got. You can never be sure when picking candles online, they can be a total hit or miss. I always buy the smallest size, because I like to try new scents too often, but maybe I’ll be getting one of these in a larger size when they go on sale.

Singing carols – this candle belongs to their newest collection ˝Magical Christmas morning˝. At first, it had so weak throw that left me disappointed. For the first two hours or so, I couldn’t smell a thing, but after a while, it showed its true character. It smells quite spicy and green. These two elements are dominating and there is also some fruit in the background, which is not sweet but adds some additional freshness and some brightness. A candle gives a soft, but noticeable throw. It is very pleasant, but not overpowering.

Evergreen mist – this one was a part of last year’s holiday collection ˝Alpine Christmas˝, it has also a different label (not photography friendly). I would say that this one is fresher and greener than the previous one, but they definitely have some common elements. Its greenness is well rounded and realistic. Maybe there’s a pinch of sweetness in it, but it is there just to support the green part and it’s not taking over the main part. Very enjoyable, soft, and relaxing. I think this is my favorite Yankee candle so far.

I would strongly recommend both of these candles if you like those traditional, green types on scents. I think they are appropriate for every season and not just for Christmas and would be a great addition of coziness to every home.
