Recently I've been very into cream blushes, so I was excited and of course curious when I saw the news about the upcoming makeup collection by Dior a few months ago. When it was finally available to buy online I decided to treat myself and give it a try. I bought it in shade 865 ˝Pink glow˝ - cool toned pink.
This is not
a typical cream stick blush, but more like a tinted cheek balm. I would say
that this product has two ˝faces˝ of performance. It appears differently
depends of what you use beneath it.
On bare,
moisturized skin – it applies very smoothly and leaves a bit shiny and slightly
tinted trace. It is sheer, but buildable and very easy to blend. I found it a
bit sticky, but way less then some other similar products I own. The finish is
not very shiny or wet looking as I assumed it to be, so I can still use my
favorite highlighter on the top. I just love that is gives that fresh,
effortless and natural looking appearance. When it’s used on bare skin, it can
be easily blended with fingers, but otherwise I prefer using my brush.
On primed
skin with foundation – here are things a bit different. Application is not as
smooth and gets a bit patchy. Also, the color trace is more intensive. But
there is no need for panic! This balm didn’t mess with my foundation and was
still able to blend quite nicely. As I mentioned before, the best way to do
this elegantly is with the brush, but I think that this type of blending takes
away almost entire shiny finish and all you are left with is a natural looking touch
of color. So if that bothers you, you should always use your fingers.
During the
day, under my mask it wears of like a lipstick. Color is long lasting, but that
top glossy finish goes away quite fast.
Conclusion:
I am very happy with my purchase. I love how flattering and natural this shade
looks. During winter months I am very pale, so this helps me a lot and it is
not overpowering. Most of my blushes are just too pigmented, but this is
perfect. Big plus is that it doesn’t contain fragrances and its very practical
for carrying around.
Negative
sides? The price, but it’s Dior so we can’t do much about it. And maybe the
fact that I shouldn’t be in use for a long time, since it is a balm.
