My top 5 most used makeup brushes

My collection contains quite a few makeup brushes, but I mostly use just a few of them. My eyes are often on a hunt for new ones and not because I would actually need them, but because they look nice. Sounds familiar? By the way, are you familiar with that giant face polish brush from Shiseido? See how my mind works?

Here is my top 5 most used makeup brushes:

Zoeva bamboo 234 Smoky shader – this is a very versatile smaller eye brush with medium density. Probably I reach for it the most because it stands out with its design – a combination of golden steel and bamboo wood and I grab it first. It has quality, synthetic bristles and has been in use for at least three years now without any complaint.

Sigma E39 Buff and blend – this is a bit bigger, soft, and fluffy brush. It is great for blending or applying highly pigmented or overly glittery shadows when you don’t want to use too much. It has a classical Sigma design and synthetic hair.

Claudia Schiffer Blusher brush for Artdeco – it is my only brush fully made of all-natural hair. It is a medium-sized, super soft, and very universal powder brush. I use it to apply my powder foundations and finishing powders. It is really easy to work with and great for creating softer, more natural looks. The only thing is that I need to be more careful when washing it because natural hair is more sensitive and can lose its form if I clean it too aggressively.

By the way, for cleaning all my brushes I always use – Honey I washed the kids soap bar from Lush.

Ebeline (DM) – super soft, versatile, and budget-friendly. And when I say soft I really mean soft. It is bigger than the previous one, so I use it mostly for applying blush. It would be also great for bronzers or finishing powders, but definitely not for liquids. It has synthetic bristles. Would highly recommend the entire Ebeline line.

Unbranded angled kabuki brush (Ebay) – I bought a whole set of 8 different violet kabuki brushes on Ebay a while ago and most of them impressed me. I don’t remember the price or seller (I don’t use Ebay anymore), but they must have been very cheap. A few were not that great or even broke after a while, but most of them stayed in my drawer. They have wooden handles and are not that perfectly glued to the head of the (synthetic) brush. Otherwise, I have no complaint against them. All are very soft with medium density, great for blending powder or cream products. Sometimes I use them as erasers when I overdo my blush or foundation.

When it comes to brushes, brand name and price is not a guarantee for quality. If you want to splurge on something fancy, that is fine, but first, check out your local drugstore and Ebay and you may be impressed by what you can find.
