Caudalie: Vinosource mattifying fluid & famous Beauty elixir

Hot summer days and stifling office create ideal conditions for testing matifying and other products for oily skin with big promises. A few months ago I was using Bioderma’s pore refiner from their sebium line, but didn’t make a review, because it supposed to be discontinued. I’m not sure about that, but that moisturizer was not the best choice for me during winter, because it was too aggressive. I wanted to try something more natural and of course really effective. I was even prepared to spend a bit more money for good products, because greasy face is not attractive at all. I always feel it gives unprofessional, stressful, sweaty and distracted impression of person. Similar is with messy brows, but I’ll write about that some other time.

Beauty community recommended Caudalie. Their cosmetic is natural, with high quality ingredients. I know the brand and own some of their products. So I bought Vinosource moisturizing matfifying fluid for 28€ (tube contains 40ml). This is the most expensive skincare item I own. I was so thrilled and had high hopes, but it failed on the test immediately. My T-zone was never mat, not even when days were still much colder. Ok, maybe for the first half hour, but not longer. It also didn’t make it much less greasy, unless I use powder or prep/fixing spray. This fluid is an average moisturizer for oily skin which could be easily bought for 5€. The only positive thing is quality of ingredients, but can we be always sure about that? The consistency is quite thick, but fluid becomes light when applied. It has mild, fresh smell and gives very comfortable feeling after application. The packaging is practical, simple, but very cute. I’m glad it works for so many people, but sadly not for me, so the search continues.

The second thing from Caudalie was a positive surprise. I’m talking about their most famous beautifying elixir. This could be also written as YouTube made me do it. Who sprays a water in their face? Well I do, although I’m still a little confused. This supposed to be a prep spray, but people mostly use it as fixing or finishing spray. I tried to use it both ways and I think both are effective. This stuff really makes my skin less oily and prevents makeup from melting. In winter and spring time worked better, almost perfect. It smells so good, fresh and herbal, just perfect for a little relaxation before long day. It is criticized for containing a lot of alcohol. I think that if you use it with your daily moisturizer, there shouldn’t be a problem. You just need to be careful and spray it with your eyes and mouth closed. I bought it in travel size, 30ml for 11€.
