This time I would like to introduce you to my three most worn fragrances of the season. Fall can be tricky with temperatures. It is not yet cold enough for deep, strong scents and on the other hand, softer perfumes can be ˝lost˝ too quickly. These three are somewhere in between, well at least for my taste.
Coco Noir by Chanel – first of all this is definitely for citrusy patchouli lovers. Sharp and sometimes even repulsive upon initial spray, but once it settles down, it becomes softer, somehow rounded, and beautiful. Like I already mentioned, the heart of the fragrances represents patchouli that gives it a bit of ˝bossy˝ character to the whole composition, so I assume that’s why it is called noir. It is not a true nighttime fragrance to me, because it is just too bright.
The second prominent note is grapefruit, which I am not a big fan of, but it is tolerable. The dry down is a combination of something slightly sweet, smooth, and spicy and again with a hint of patchouli from the background. I am not familiar with the original Coco, but I own Coco edt and these two fragrances have nothing in common. Coco is strictly spicy warm oriental and this one is much colder and sharper.
Dior Hypnotic poison – creamy, slightly dusty vanilla pudding with bitter almonds. This one is for sure a crowd pleaser and I doubt it needs a longer presentation. I like this roller pearl version because I can carry it around with me and re-apply when needed because this edition is quite light, but I don’t mind it. Pure joy and a hug from someone familiar.
Bottega Veneta Eau de Velours – this one is the most serious and the darkest of all three. As its name says, it truly gives you some kind of velvet vibe. It starts with an explosion of bergamot and then quite quickly settles down into a combination of dusty rose, dry plums, and leather. It is not sweet, this one is more like dry fruits and smooth leather if that makes sense. It sometimes in some phases reminds me of old-school Solea cream.
