Katie Price: Harvey and me - A mother's love - book review

I pre-ordered this book as soon as I saw it was announced and was very excited about it. I am not a fan of Katie, but I also don’t have anything strong against her either. Let’s be honest, she is very inventive, enterprising and most of all confident in what she is doing – and this book is one of her better projects. This time she stepped back (but just a little) and put the shining light on her firstborn Harvey.

Harvey was born with many disabilities and medical conditions and had to face with numerous of challenges since his day one. But at the same time he is also very talented and clever young man. Katie is very good at describing everything, her writing is interesting, filled with humour and anecdotes and never boring. I deeply admire her as a parent and I think this was the main reason that I bought this book in first place. When I saw her relationship with Harvey on YouTube, I was amazed how great she is with him and of course with her other children as well.

I really liked this book, because Katie’s optimism is inspiring. We all do mistakes, she can’t be perfect all the time, so maybe you should ignore those headlines from Daily Mail and look at her from a different perspective. Taking full care for a person with so many disabilities is not easy. And also seeing your child suffering must be devastating. Maybe there is some unnecessary intermezzos and a bit juicy details, but was not that disturbing. Harvey will always the greatest love of her life and that is nicely presented through the entire book.
