Katie Price: Harvey and me - A mother's love - book review

I pre-ordered this book as soon as I saw it was announced and was very excited about it. I am not a fan of Katie, but I also don’t have anything strong against her either. Let’s be honest, she is very inventive, enterprising and most of all confident in what she is doing – and this book is one of her better projects. This time she stepped back (but just a little) and put the shining light on her firstborn Harvey. Harvey was born with many disabilities and medical conditions and had to face with numerous of challenges since his day one. But at the same time he is also very talented and clever young man. Katie is very good at describing everything, her writing is interesting, filled with humour and anecdotes and never boring. I deeply admire her as a parent and I think this was the main reason that I bought this book in first place. When I saw her relationship with Harvey on YouTube, I was amazed how great she is with him and of course with her other children as well. I really liked this...

Jen Atkin: Blowing my way to the top - book review

Here’s finally another book review from a lazy reader, but I’m hopefully about to change that this year. Wish me luck! Blowing my way to the top (great title, right?) is I would say a personal development book, full of great advice and inspiration. But sadly, that advice is quite generic and flat. I expected more. More details, more behind the scene stuff, and ¨modern wisdom¨. I understand that she couldn’t share secrets confidential information about celebrities or something like that, but if you create a successful beauty brand and work with fierce people like Kris Jenner, you have to offer us more. It is not a bad book, by any means. I would still recommend it, especially to teenage readers or those in their 20s, but older readers could be disappointed. There are some interesting facts included, which I liked. That always enriches the text. Her style of writing is flowy, often funny. She also likes to make fun of herself and describes how she learned from her own mistakes. I even wr...

Book review - Demi Moore: Inside out

I read this book over a year ago and somehow completely forgot about it. This is a shame because it is quite good celebrity biography. I was never a huge fan of Demi Moore, I mean I knew who she was when I saw her on-screen and I also knew who was she married with. But that was about it, I didn’t know her background. Each time she appeared on a film I would admire her beauty, her figure, and usually long, glossy black hair. I remember seeing her appearing in Charlie’s angles II, I simply thought she is stunning for her age (I think I was fifteen at that time).  Her life was never easy. She had a difficult childhood, her mother and stepfather were constantly fighting and they moved a lot. Consequently, she was often a new girl at school that was far from being easy, but somehow, she found herself again through acting. Later she was struggling with an unhealthy lifestyle, but luckily at some point that was behind her. I was surprised at how low her self-esteem was and how much she ha...

Naya Rivera: Sorry not sorry - dreams, mistakes, and growing up

After a long time, here’s another book review. As I mentioned before, I am sadly mostly just a holiday or Sunday reader. I would like to read more, but after spending so many hours in front of the screen at work, my eyes deserve some time off. Here’s another sad admission – I did not know who Naya Rivera was before she had that tragic accident. I heard about Glee, of course, but never watch it. I thought this was something for teenagers and musical parts are just not for me. Here pictures were everywhere, she was absolutely stunning and I become curious about her life and career. Right after her death, her book was sold out and almost impossible to order. When I finally got a notification that it got back in stock it made me super excited and I bought it immediately.  Her way of writing is interesting, flowy, and with a lot of humor and great talent. Sometimes she uses slang which contributes to the dynamic of the text. At the end of each chapter, there are always two lists: one fo...

Book review: Andrea Barber - Full Circle

In my childhood Full house was my favorite sitcom along with Fresh prince of Bel Air and Family matters. I really enjoyed watching one of these shows every afternoon. One episode doesn’t take you much time, unless you’re binge-watching. Content is often funny, relatable, relaxing and doesn’t require much thinking. I’m always happy when I accidently catch a re-run, it always brings back happy memories. I was excited when I saw the announcement on YouTube that another cast member of Full House will publish her book. Andrea Barber who played goofy and often special next door neighbor with specific clothing style decided to write her biography. She was never my favorite, I preferred DJ and Stephanie, but I always admired her confidence. I mean nothing can break Kimmy Gibbler! Sadly in reality this is not completely true. Andrea went through some very tough time in her life. Being a child actor was not easy. Kids in school didn’t like her that much and she was often being b...
