Lookbook: Metallic elegance

For the last post of the year, I chose to create another outfit inspiration collage. Maybe you have the privilege to go somewhere fancy and search for a last-minute idea, or you just want to kill some time and relax in front of your screen. I didn’t want to end this month with that typical post about new year’s resolution and endless goals – I might still do that in January though, but somehow I doubt. Fashion is always a great way to express yourself without being too strenuous. This look is more traditional – a dark blue dress with lots of silver metallic threads, it is timeless and elegant. Then I overreacted a bit with silver slings with giant jeweled clasp and silver purse, also quite decorated with floral details. But it is the occasion when we can be over the top and it still looks acceptable.  Dress - Swing (Peek&Cloppenburg) Shoes - DUNE London Casis (Zalando) Bag - Mascara (Zalando)

Lookbook: New Year's Eve rosegold romance

When I think about winter party outfits or the big (or it used to be) New Year’s Eve party, the first thing on my mind is always bold, darker colors, and black. Red and gold are somehow reserved for Christmas, but for the last day of the year is – dark and elegant. I wanted to change that and include something a bit unusual to my lookbook – a cream, floral romantic dress that is more usual for springtime and some metallic contrast with rosegold shoes, bag, and accessories. I wanted to present this look as a fresh start and a confident step into 2022. Grand return of velvet

I am not exactly sure why, but velvet often reminds me of my childhood. Maybe because the first dress I remembered to own was a dark violet velvet dress, or because my plush hedgehog had dark red velvet pants, or it’s because my mother used to tie up my hair with a velvet scrunchie.  Velvet is back and it’s big, bold, colorful, and beautiful. It may look cheap, but it can also be elegant and seductive. Does that also mean a big return of Juicy Couture? We’ll see how things go. I made a small selection of the items I like; some are on my wish list.  Violet velvet dress by Zara  is almost a replica of the one I used to own, so it has that sentimental attachment to my childhood. I think I would wear this over my jeans because it is super short, but honestly, I don’t think this is for me. It’s a lovely piece though! Pink gathered body by Zara  is right up my alley. This one gives me those 80’s vibe and would look great under a more serious dark blazer. Flared velvet legg...

Yves Rocher mini haul

I just recently rediscovered  Yves Rocher.  It used to be one of my favorites a few years ago, but then they closed their physical stores in my area and somehow I chose other brands instead…  Anyway, I saw the ad for their new festive collection and just had to buy it. One of the lines contains oranges and chocolate and that was loudly screaming my name. If you may not know by now, I’ve been recently obsessed with oranges in cosmetics and perfumery, but still, almost hate to eat them. So I got myself a festive gift set –  Melting orange . It contains a large-sized shower gel, oil-based body scrub, and mini hand cream. I haven’t tried everything yet, but so far I am very happy. I am impressed with this little hand cream because it absorbs really fast and it’s not greasy. I can’t stand greasy hands. The smell is very pleasant, not too strong, and not fake, which is always crucial to me, I love when something smells great. As I can remember from the past seasons, they o...

Clinique Cheek Pop Pearl in Opal Pop

Hello there and happy Sunday! A few weeks ago I just had the urge to do some online makeup shopping (it happens). You know how can that turn out, right? You think something looks superb, you do your research and check all available pictures of swatches, but end up with an average-looking expensive product. Ok, let’s go to the point! I am very happy with my purchases and one of them is on today, to be presented. Clinique Cheek Pop Pearl  – is a new version of their, Cheek Pop blushes. This is a blush and a highlighter in one product. It is available in 5 shades, I got the lightest – Opal Pop. Opal Pop  is a warm-toned peachy-nude blush with a pearl finish. It contains quite visible gold shimmer, but it’s done in a good and flattering way. It is lightly pigmented, but buildable. I would recommend using a denser brush, to get more color payoff. I love it because it is subtle and it is hard to overdo it. It is very flattering on my light complexion. It blends out nicely and leaves...

What is happening with Yankee candles?

I’ve been a Yankee candle fan for about five years now. I mostly had only a positive experience with them, my only problem are my occasional headaches, caused by the strong scents from the candles. But that is individual, because our sensitivity to the scents is different, so it is not a real complaint to the company or products. But lately, I’ve experienced a different kind of issue – irregular burning. I am not a candle expert, I trim my wick regularly, I use illume lid for even burning and that is about it. And in the past few years, everything was fine – candles were done when they reached the bottom of the jar, but not this year. Something is off. It started with the Elevation line and I thought it looked bad, until even worse happened to the medium jar from the classic line. It is a shame because this candle had quite a few hours ahead to burn. Don’t you think so? I am still a Yankee candle fan, but I would like to know what went wrong here. If you have any suggestions or recent...

Fragrances to wear during this festive season

It’s that special time of the year again and if you are a fragrance enthusiast like me, then you understand how important is for us to ˝match˝ our scents to the occasion and then later connect them with fond memories, built during that time. Here is my selection of fragrances I like to wear during December. They are certainly not reserved only for this period, but somehow they help me to transfer into a festive mood. Coco Chanel Eau de Toilette  – this is a classic among amber-spicy fragrances. It is like a familiar cozy hug, but from a woman with confidence. It is classy, sophisticated, somehow even modern, but never boring. I adore the initial burst of orange and peaches, accompanied by a bouquet of spices, dominated by clove. This part reminds me of Christmas. It later settles down into spicy-peach sandalwood composition, with some sweetness from the background. Gucci Flora  – fresh orange juice spilled over mixed florals. This is exactly what I get from this and I love it ...

Makeup Factory Soft Lightning Powder

It is time to review another highlighter, so let’s go! So I saw this powder quite a few times and it immediately caught my attention, but I never saw any swatches. The packaging looked similar to MAC products and based on descriptions and marketing, I expected something like those famous powders made by Hourglass. I was super excited when I bought it and could wait to try it because I am always open to a good everyday highlighter. Unfortunately, this is not what I expected it to be – it is yet another strong gold drugstore highlighting powder. I must admit, it is more sophisticated than most of them and looks expensive, but nothing special. It is advertised as ˝light˝ - whatever that means to them, it is very pigmented and you need to try not to look like a disco princess. On the box label it is even written that you can use it all over your face and it is supposed to be camouflaging minor imperfections, I mean, please. How? By blinding? Ok, this was mean, but I am disappointed with th...

Caudalie Resveratol Lift serum review

Caudalie Resveratol Lift serum  – a few weeks ago I included this serum as a permanent part of my skincare routine and now I finally collected some thoughts about it. I am not an expert in skincare ingredients, so this is completely an amateur’s point of view. As I understand, resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant, it is mostly found in the skins of grapes and can be used for many things, including skincare. It is known for its anti-aging properties and it is apparently two times more effective than retinol. And because all this sounds so great, and I had a wonderful experience with retinol, of course, I had to try it. I use this as a part of my night-time regimen because I don’t like to use it for the day. It is light-weight, slightly watery, and quite fast-absorbing serum, appropriate for my mixed type skin, but it leaves some kind of sticky radiant finish that is not compatible with my foundation. I just can’t blend it out evenly. It has an herbal, mostly nettle smell (I believe...

Diorskin Nude Luminizers: 04 Bronze glow, 05 Rose glow, 06 Holographic glow

Hello there and welcome to my blog! I can’t believe that it is December already! And because this is such a festive month, it is more than suitable to start with a post about highlighters.  Diorskin nude luminizers  – are gorgeous fancy highlighters. I don’t know why they named them nude, because they are far from being shy, so this may be misleading. Ok, you can create subtle looks with them, but I think that there are better ˝nude˝ highlighters out there for that purpose and these are for more let’s just say – noticeable emphasizing. They are very pigmented, easy to blend, and flattering. My mini collection includes three shades:  04 – Bronze glow  – light copper, sometimes even orange shade, with a luminous finish 05 – Rose glow  – medium pink, silver, with a strong metallic finish 06 – Holographic glow  – super cool-toned, light lavender, blue, with a metallic finish Bronze glow  – I like to use it during summer when my pale face finally gets some...
