I am not exactly sure why, but velvet often reminds me of my childhood. Maybe because the first dress I remembered to own was a dark violet velvet dress, or because my plush hedgehog had dark red velvet pants, or it’s because my mother used to tie up my hair with a velvet scrunchie.
Velvet is back and it’s big, bold, colorful, and beautiful. It may look cheap, but it can also be elegant and seductive. Does that also mean a big return of Juicy Couture? We’ll see how things go.
I made a small selection of the items I like; some are on my wish list.
Violet velvet dress by Zara is almost a replica of the one I used to own, so it has that sentimental attachment to my childhood. I think I would wear this over my jeans because it is super short, but honestly, I don’t think this is for me. It’s a lovely piece though!
Pink gathered body by Zara is right up my alley. This one gives me those 80’s vibe and would look great under a more serious dark blazer.
Flared velvet leggings by Calzedonia – I must admit I am still not entirely convinced by this flare thing again. I used to flare jeans all the time, but now my skinny-fit ones are the best. But nevertheless, I want a pair of comfort velvet leggings and I am open to trying something different.
Kimi velvet bag by Guess – this was love at first sight, and this love now comes in three styles and thirteen shades. The more I look at them, the more I want something, you know the feeling. I’m just concerned about the practical part of the velvet bag. How do you clean it? Is it ruined if I spill something on it (as I often do?). Is this even a place to ask similar questions?
