Easy reading

I'm a periodic and very picky reader. Lately, I’ve been mainly reading in English which is a foreign language for me. I’m not an expert, so I like to read easier literature, like celebrity biographies and other interesting memoirs. I prefer hardback covers and normal font sizes. Reading a small print makes me exhausting even if the book is very good. I admit – I like beautiful covers and colorful images on them. I have some positive experiences with books, chosen only by their covers and conversely. My big wish as a child was to write my own book, but I never really know what it would be about. Reading and writing is therapeutic for me, it helps me to feel better and find some lost pieces of myself for which maybe I didn’t know that they were lost. Problem is that selection of books in my local public library is very poor. At least for my taste, it’s not really that bad. OK, poor in non-fiction, not school related area. Everything interesting passes us by, but we are regularly...

What I bought recently

Nuxe - Reve de Miel, utra comforting body cream My skin on legs gets especially during colder months extra dry and very itchy. I tried a lot of creams and body butters, but very a few got my great results. And I can be very picky about the smell, I generally hate fruit body creams and shower gels. I already own a lip balm in a jar from Nuxe’s Reve de Miel line and I adore it. It smells and tastes like sweet biscuits with honey and orange. I thought body cream from the same line would smell at least similar to it, but I was wrong. It smells like a bee wax, which I don’t mind, but was a little disappointing. As a moisturizer is very good, sinks into the skin very quick and lives it smooth and soft. It’s suitable for sensitive skin and you can also use it on your legs right after the shaving. I love the packaging, because it has a pump, so is very handy. I’m just concerned that it won’t last very long, because I use it a lot. On a regular price in our pharmacies it’s very pricy, around...

En taupe palette - Zoeva

When I first saw it, I immediately thought that this must be mine someday. I own three eye shadow palettes; two of them are neutrals, bus something was still missing. I didn’t have any grey shadows, but felt in love with them recently. Soft grays are natural, but not so typical. They emphasize my brown-green eyes beautifully without drowning them in color, like brown colors do. But there is one downside, wrong shade can make you look a bit pale, so you need to choose and combine them correctly. My favorite combinations are: matte, gray with shimmer lilac or with shimmer olive silver. Lilac and green are my top, non nude eye shadow colors, but sometimes it’s hard to wear them alone. Ok, we went off topic a bit, so let’s get back to palette. Zoeva is newer brand from Germany and if I’m not wrong is sold only in web shops, but you can get their makeup brushes in Douglas drugstores all over Europe. I saw the En taupe palette on Douglas website and was convinced that they sell them also...

Make-up things I don't like

I adore makeup and own by my opinion quite a lot of products, but I don’t consider myself as a typical user. I love minimalism and skip items that are for a lot of women the most important or basic. Some of them I just don’t like some don’t fit me from different reasons. Mascara – I buy it from time to time, but it’s difficult for me to find such that won’t irritate my sensitive eyes. The second thing is I’m not that kind of girl who likes to check herself in a mirror every hour to see if everything is still in place. My eye makeup must be longwearing, on a budget and tears proof (tears caused by allergies, not sadness). Waterproof mascaras seem to be too aggressive and hard to take off, even with oils, I often lost a lash or two. I like the effect that mascaras give, but often don’t feel comfortable wearing it, because I’m afraid of smudging. (taken from: freakdeluxe.co.uk) Lip liner – never bought it, for me it’s unnecessary. I wear lipstick just once or twice a week...

Yankee candles

I bought my two first Yankee candles in small jars last November. I hesitated with this purchase for a while, because they are quite expensive. Candle in a small jar costs 11,90€. But on the other hand, it’s not that much money either, because they last for a long time, even though they’re small. My room is not big, so after less than an hour I need to stop using the candle, or I’m taking a risk of an headache, unfortunately. It’s so practical to use a candle’s lid to do it, so there’s no smoke, which is great. I chose lighter scents I suppose, but they are still too strong for me. Now when the weather is warmer, I tend to burn my candles with an open window. I’m not afraid of a draft, because I’m next to burning candle all the time. Before I went candle shopping I made a list of scents I want to try. I didn’t want to spend a lot of time in the shop, making ˝tough˝ decisions, while the shop assistant is standing bored next to me.  On my first trip to Yankee candle store I boug...

My ˝vivid˝ nail polishes

Nail polish was my first makeup product. I think I was in 2 th grade when my mother first time painted my nails with a white polish. I felt so proud and grown up. And not so long after, she bought me a clear polish with tiny glitters in it. I was not allowed to wear it for school, but just during weekends and holidays. I ˝seriously˝ started to paint my nails in 5 th grade I think. My favorite polishes where always in nude colors and that remained till today. I own some more vivid or glittery polishes (at least vivid for my taste), but I don’t always feel comfortable wearing them, especially for work. Some can be toned down, if I paint just one coat and then it’s ok. One-coaters are not perfect, can be streaky and chip very easily. That can be partly fixed with a great top coat, but I don’t own it, because I would rarely use it. Hair talk

Today I’ll write about my hair and favorite hair products. Ma hair is dark brown, quite thick, shoulder long and partly curly. I mean curly in a bad way. Sometimes it looks like a big mess, but I would be very modern in the 80s. And oh boy if it’s foggy outside, nothing can help. I often wear a ponytail, what I know it’s not a very good idea. It also gets oily super fast at scalp, dry at the ends, especially when it’s straightened. Another problem that I’m dealing with is gray hairs. I color them every 3 months or so. I got the best results when I colored them myself at home. I was never very happy when my hairdresser dyed them. First time, the color was too weak and didn’t color grays, and then second time my hair become orange-red (mostly on outgrown part) instead dark brown. I’m most satisfied with all types of colors from L’oreal and the brand which I can’t stand is Syoss. Tomorrow I’m going to the hairdresser to cut my and I’m a bit nervous. I know changes are good, but I simpl...
