All my blushes

Today I’m going to present you my blush collection. Ok, it’s a mini collection to be exact. I used to be afraid of blushes, because I thought they would make me look unnatural or clown-like. Sometimes they do. If a color is very pigmented it’s so easy to apply too much, but you can always repair ˝the damage˝ with extra blending or just wiping it off a bit. So don’t be afraid of bright colors and shimmer, just try what you like and apply light handed – you’ll be just fine. Let we start with two of my favorites. First is Instain long wearing blush from The Balm in color Pinstripe . I’ve got quite pale complexion, bur adore deep, plummy colors. This kind of color was very difficult to find in our drugstores, so I eventually gave up, and ordered it from The Balm. It’s a rosy/violet/brown with some subtle golden shimmer. Shimmer is not visible when the color is blended also the color becomes more dusty/rosy/red on my cheeks. It’s not a true plum when is applied. Oh dear God, I hop...

Seduction from a dark bottle: Chrystal noir, Jasmine noir L’Essence

Dark perfume bottles are always sending me similar message: I’m made for the night out, I’ll make you sexy and irresistible, men will go crazy, and heads will turn… that’s before I smell the content, later things often change and my imagination is left disappointed. I adore oriental and more complex fragrances, but they must be wearable for different occasions and definitely not to strong. It’s primitive for my age, I know, but it still always helps, if perfume comes in a pretty bottle. I believe that this fragrance doesn’t need an introduction, because everybody knows it. If it used to be reserved for a bit older Misses, now a lot of teenage girls wear it, what I found a bit disturbing. Girls, stick with your idol/celebrity fragrances like we used to when we were in high school. Ok, I’m joking, but this fragrance is still quite popular even after 12 years – yes it’s that old. Chrystal noir smells like spicy white flowers with some light sweetness, wood and coconut added. It’s str...

First impressions: Bioderma Sebium mat control and L'oreal Extraordinary Oil Cleansing Milk-Oil

My skin care routine which was great for fall and winter, let me down completely recently. Micellar water from Balea that I was using, gone bad after five months, even it had a sign that you can use it in a year after opening. Some kind of dirty little parts were swimming in it. My Vichy Normaderm daily moisturizer was not helping me to control my greasy skin at all. The only thing that is good for a whole year round is a Night detox cream also from Vichy, that’s a permanent part in my face care. As I said, my skin got super oily in these hot days. I need to blot my face every time I go to the bathroom during work - that means about three times in eight hours. And it’s not just T-zone that’s causing me a problem, but recently also cheeks. How can I use a highlighter or shiny blush if I have already enough of shine like everywhere. I always use pressed powder - Stay matte from Rimmel, but is rescues the situation just for short period of time. So I decided to make some changes....

Nude nails

Even though I started to experiment with brighter nail colors recently, I still prefer nude or muted colors. You can never go wrong with nude except if you manage to create ˝mannequin˝ hands – that can look awful. Nudes are always elegant, sophisticated, office friendly and appropriate for every occasion. Ok, maybe this is also partly the case in classic red colors, but I don’t like them. I often get that impression form the red nails and lips, that woman are just trying too hard to be seductive. Over the past three years or so I become an OPI snob. I own one Zoya and the rest of polishes are all from OPI. Some colors disappointed with their quality, but mostly are just great. Their nude colors in jelly form are the best and I love their wide brush. I adore nail polishes and this hobby is not very cheap, so I decided to limit myself a bit. I will buy a new polish, when I finish with one of the ones I own. Another thing I like about OPI, that they announce their colors half a y...

What had to go

I am a materialist. Emotionally attached to things and that also includes makeup. But still, sometimes is such a relief to throw away things that I don’t like. It’s also a great excuse to buy something new. On rainy Sunday afternoon I decided to go through all my makeup products and toss away everything I don’t like and don’t use. My collection is not big. I always try to use everything I own on a rotation. Before I buy anything (ok almost always) I look on line for reviews, so I’m satisfied with most of my products. Let’s go back to Sunday’s ˝mini cleaning˝.  I threw away five things: 3 lipsticks, mascara and eyeliner/shadow in a pen. First is a matte lipstick from Wet n Wild – Mega last lip color in ˝Mochalicious˝ . It’s a dark brown, trendy color. I thought it would suit me, but I feel very uncomfortable wearing it. It’s too dark and unflattering, even when I put it on a lip balm in a thin layer. Also the formula in very drying and I hate the packaging. You have to be...

Two summer goodies from Makeup revolution

Summer is finally here and it's time to get that bronzy, J.LO glow. I don’t know if this is still popular to say, because everyone is talking just about Kylie’s Jenner look recently. But anyway, first I would like to introduce you two products from Makeup revolution, which I adore and are very appropriate for summer months. I use them during whole year, but these colors look better on tanned skin. Makeup revolution has been a much known brand for two years already; they have very affordable and quality products. They only thing I don’t like is that everything is made in China. I still trust more to products that are made in Europe. But I guess you cannot sell just everything on European market, so ingredients from China must be under some kind of control. Makeup revolution highlighter Radiant light – Breathe This one is supposed to be a dupe from one of famous powders from Hourglass, but I don’t own both, so can’t compare. It’s a subtle light brown highlighter with decent s...

Easy reading - part 2

Here is another selection of books I would like to read. The last one from the list I wouldn’t call easy, but more something for myself, book about topic that is following me stronger every year. 1.     Alexander McQueen: Blood Beneath the Skin – Andrew Wilson I don’t know a lot about fashion, I just know which clothes are beautiful to me and which are not. But I can name some famous designers and between them is late Alexander McQueen. His creations were (and still are) extravagant on one and truly elegant on the other side. I remember his collaboration with Lady Gaga and classic pieces that Duchess of Cambridge wears. But I don’t know anything about his life. He was a genius, but also very sad and lonely. That suffering made him to end his life too early. (bookdepository.com) 2.     True Love – Jennifer Lopez This one supposed to be about self esteem, love to yourself, heartbreaks and Jennifer as an artist on a world tour.  It’s fa...
