Easy reading - part 2

Here is another selection of books I would like to read. The last one from the list I wouldn’t call easy, but more something for myself, book about topic that is following me stronger every year.

1.    Alexander McQueen: Blood Beneath the Skin – Andrew Wilson
I don’t know a lot about fashion, I just know which clothes are beautiful to me and which are not. But I can name some famous designers and between them is late Alexander McQueen. His creations were (and still are) extravagant on one and truly elegant on the other side. I remember his collaboration with Lady Gaga and classic pieces that Duchess of Cambridge wears. But I don’t know anything about his life. He was a genius, but also very sad and lonely. That suffering made him to end his life too early.

2.    True Love – Jennifer Lopez
This one supposed to be about self esteem, love to yourself, heartbreaks and Jennifer as an artist on a world tour.  It’s fascinating that one of the world’s sexier women had doubt in herself and her body. She always appears so confident and put together that I never doubt in her self awareness. After her (third?) divorce she took some time to herself and healed her soul with a help of her children and her work. I don’t believe that we can learn some new lessons. There is just old wisdom of life, told in J.LO style.  I had the same experience with Oprah’s book – everything I already know, but because Oprah wrote that, it has more importance to me. Jennifer’s book is also filed with a lot of personal photos, what can be even more vacation appropriate, especially if you’re her fan.

3.    The Vegas Diaries – Holly Madison
This book has just been published today, so there’s no reliable review just yet. It’s the second book from a former Playboy bunny and Hugh Hefner’s fiancĂ©, Holly Madison. After she left the mansion, she got the opportunity to work in Vegas in different shows and in a very successful burlesque. In this book Holly is describing how she adopted her new life and work in Vegas, how was to go out on dates and how is she dealing with the etiquette of a former Hefner’s girlfriend. I expect this book to be a fun read and something that can make you just relax.

4.    Selfish, Shallow, and Self-Absorbed: Sixteen Writers on the Decision Not to Have Kids Kindle Edition – Meghan Daum
For the past years I’ve been dealing a lot with a question about having my own family. Every year I’m more sure, that I don’t want to have children, but I think nobody really supports me in this. They are all saying that I’m still young; don’t know what I’m talking about and that I will eventually change my mind. Maybe, but what if I won’t? Am I then a selfish or less worth person? In this book I would like to get that approval that it’s ok not to have children and that is this something very personal. No one has a right to tell you what to do in this section, but if your partner is disagreeing with you, then you must let him go. This is still a taboo topic where interlocutors who think the same are hard to find.
