La Roche Posay: Effaclar MAT

I might just found something great (but not perfect) for my oily skin – Effaclar Mat moisturizer from La Roche Posay. I know about this product for a long time, because it’s popular and has great recommendations, but I never actually decided to buy it. I don’t know why, maybe because here it’s only sold in pharmacies and I don’t like going there. Could be. I have never tried a product from La Roche Posay before. This cream performs on the level of an expensive primer and gives an instant mattifying finish, which lasts much longer than I’m used to. Not for a whole working day, but still long enough. And when my face becomes oily, oiliness is less intense, so that means also less noticeable. I often put mattifying powder on the top, which doesn’t make any changes with oiliness or longevity of oil control, just evens my skin tone. The texture is light, but not watery or gel like. First impression when you put it on your face is that this could be something heavier or even oily...

John Masters hair nourishment oil and de-fizzer

I have a thing for natural hair care products. To be honest I usually don’t give them much attention and because of that they become dehydrated. I use hot tools on a regular base, often skip conditioner and nourishing hair treatments – overall I’m just lazy. But sometimes I get better and try to take care of them like I always should. Rather than hair masks I like to use blend of natural oils, which I think are far better and powerful. My current favorite product is John Masters Organics hair nourishment and de-fizzer. First of all I like that it comes in smaller very elegant looking glass packaging with a handy dropper. For me it takes forever to use up a large bottle of oil before it turns bad. This little bottle contains 23ml, which is not that bad, because you don’t need to use much. I mean it is real, high quality oil and therefore it’s quite heavy. This blend contains lavender oil, rosemary extract, jojoba oil and cedar wood. It smells very strong, but good. ...

Some recent favorites

Yankee candle ELEVATION – Sweet orange spice I love the design of new collection. It looks much more elegant and sophisticated than candles from standard line. Before I went to candle shop I had some other scents on my mind, but it turned out that I don’t like them at all. At my surprise I loved something from new Christmas collection - sweet orange spice. I’m not a fan of oranges at all, but there’s something else that caught my attention: nutmeg. I wouldn’t describe this scent as sweet, but just as spicy with some freshness of fruit. This scent is very strong. I can smell the candle in my room without flaming it. It’s perfect for this season. This will last me for a long time. Cat mug My boyfriend bought me this mug and the candle I mentioned before. I saw it already before on line, so I wanted to check it out in person. It is at the same time so simple and cute. I own quite a few mugs, but after some time, I wanted something new and different, just to make my coffee...

The one that got away - Thierry Mugler Alien edt

To be exact – the one that I gave away. This potion in purple bottle was just too much for me. This stuff is loud! I can’t imagine how does the edp version smell like, if this is lighter and fresher one. I tried to love it for two years and then I gave up and pass it on to my mother. She likes it, but it gives headaches to my father who actually forbid her to wear Alien in his presence  Let’s start this story at the beginning. When I tested this on paper it seemed soft and very pleasant, so I decided to buy it. Also it had brilliant reviews on Fragrantica which is very influential to me. I liked it at first and wore it quite often. I even manage to use the half of small bottle. After some time, I put it away, wore other fragrances and never truly manage to enjoy in it again. The end of the story. Now I can’t stand it, not even on others. I can detect it right away in the crowd and that doesn’t give me nice feeling, it’s more what was I thinking one. I bought it, beca...

Dear sugar

In the past six months I completely neglected my healthy eating and workout. I became occupied with other things and allowed myself to eat more and eat junk food again.   Sweets are my treats. Ooh you’ve been so good lately; you studied hard, so you deserved chocolates and cakes. Yes, I do, but only once in a while, not every day. That is my problem. I can’t eat just some pralines from box of chocolate, I have to eat all. So I don’t have any stocks at home, because I would always have a craving to eat them. The thought that I own them wouldn’t leave my mind and that’s just terrible and makes me sad. So what would I like to do? LIMIT myself. I don’t want to quit my ˝comforters˝, but LEARN how to eat them like a normal person, that means just occasionally – for example one a week would be enough. And I don’t mean a whole day of overeating, but just one meal. Just ONE piece of cake or small chocolate. Chocolate diary of this week: three boxes of chocolate - that means 3x 250g....

My top 5 makeup brushes

Not that long ago I thought that makeup brushes were reserved only for makeup artists or people who are just trying too much with their look, but today I can’t imagine to apply my eye shadow or powder otherwise than with a brush. I got rid of all my retro sponge tip applicators and nasty powder puffs.  And one brush doesn’t mean a thing today, you need to own whole collection, for all kinds of product types and face parts. I decided to write about my top 5 brushes. In total I think I have in regular use about 10 brushes, which is not a big collection but quite for average makeup user like me. Zoeva 114 Luxe face focus – Zoeva is German brand famous for their high quality but affordable eye palettes and really nice brushes. This brush has half of natural and half synthetic brushes. My favorite is because of its practical, slightly triangular shape, ideal for setting you under eye area or applying highlighter. It is dense enough to be precise, but still soft for sensitive s...

OPI: Yank my Doodle

It took me quite a while before I found wearable orange nail polish that I truly like – it comes from OPI and its name is Yank my Doodle. This shade is from fall collection that was presented two years ago, called Washington DC and it was done with collaboration with actress Kerry Washington. I know burnt orange is not in fashion anymore, color of this year is apparently violet, but I don’t care. Yank my Doodle is muted warm tone orange with some brown and red undertones. At least I see it like that. It somehow gives that retro 50s feeling to me, although I thing modern orange polishes were way brighter back then. It is cream shade with thin formula. It applies nicely, evenly and it’s easy to remove without that unwanted staining. Color is bright enough to not being boring, but still appropriate for office environment. It especially looks good with tanned skin, but it will be great for wearing all year round. I think it looks very classy, but of course different fr...
