The one that got away - Thierry Mugler Alien edt

To be exact – the one that I gave away. This potion in purple bottle was just too much for me. This stuff is loud! I can’t imagine how does the edp version smell like, if this is lighter and fresher one. I tried to love it for two years and then I gave up and pass it on to my mother. She likes it, but it gives headaches to my father who actually forbid her to wear Alien in his presence 

Let’s start this story at the beginning. When I tested this on paper it seemed soft and very pleasant, so I decided to buy it. Also it had brilliant reviews on Fragrantica which is very influential to me. I liked it at first and wore it quite often. I even manage to use the half of small bottle. After some time, I put it away, wore other fragrances and never truly manage to enjoy in it again. The end of the story.

Now I can’t stand it, not even on others. I can detect it right away in the crowd and that doesn’t give me nice feeling, it’s more what was I thinking one. I bought it, because I wanted something different, I wanted a change, but anything citrus dominated is not for me. Citruses were too sharp at first, then jasmine took the main role and become a center of attention. Also it has too much some kind of musk for my taste. Simple composition which didn’t work on my skin. I liked it more during cold weather, but still not that much too keep it. I don’t know why is this so popular, so far I haven’t found anything super pleasant in the whole Mugler line. Alien was truly outsider in my closet for the whole time, it just couldn’t fit in.

Let me say something positive here: I love the design and color of the bottle. Purple and gold really goes nicely together. It’s not the most practical for traveling, but I never wanted to bring it with me anyway. This is classified as woody oriental. Here is the list of notes written on Fragrantica.com:

Top notes: mandarin - orange, citruses
Middle notes: white flowers, Moroccan jasmine
Base notes: cashmeran, amber
