After putting out some negative thoughts about Lancome and MAC I will
sadly going to continue in the same tone. This time my disappointment came from
Artdeco’s counter. To be more exact, from their eyeliner section. I’m not a regular user of eyeliners or any kind of cosmetics pencils.
But some weeks ago, I wanted some change in my makeup, so I bought Soft Eye Liner waterproof from Artdeco. I thought it will be great for a
beginner like me and easy to use. And as I know waterproof means that it’s long
lasting and doesn’t smudge, right? Not so true in this case. I choose color nr.
93 named ˝Historic wood˝.
This is dark grey-brown color with some shimmer. I
wanted softer everyday look, not the classic black liner. It looks great when
swatching on hand and doesn’t move, but on my greasy eyelids it’s just not as
good. Ok it smudges after a long day that is something that I expected. But the
glitter falls out very quickly and it noticeable sticks under my eyes. The second
thing is hard application. It takes a lot of swipes for a great color show up.
The color itself is uneven and the liner is a bit crumbling when drawing lines.
You can improve situation quite nicely, but it takes time. At least for me. And
the third problem – it’s hard to sharpen it. It looks ugly and poor after
sharpening, I’m afraid I’ll break it and it’s hard to achieve that desirable
sharp point. Maybe someone more experienced will like it, but I don’t. I bought
it for 5,95€.
Doesn't look good
Ok, the next liner I really like. Let me just tell you something. These
two are the only liners I own, so I can’t really compare them to others or
recommend something better just yet. Besides gray-brown color, I always like
purple ones. Usually brands came out with too light or bluish shades, it was
harder to find real dark purple drugstore version. I spotted L’oreal Paris
Colour Riche Le Smoky pencil liner nr. 211 called ˝Purple dream˝.
Artdeco left, L'oreal right
It was on
sale for only 2€, so I had to try it. Compared to Artdeco, this is way better.
Dark violet, on some light almost black color, beautiful and perfect for me.
Applied on my greasy lids it’s not as pigmented as swatched on hand, but it’s
definitely buildable. It is very long lasting, the color doesn’t fade during
whole work day. On the other side it also has some kind of ˝smudger˝ or sponge
as you want for creating smoky effect, but I never tried it to be honest. It
sharpens beautifully. The only down side is the golden stressed sign ˝Made in China˝ which
still bothers me on every makeup item. And yes, maybe it will be funny, but
with two useful ends it is longer than average pencil and won’t fit into every
makeup bag.
I can easily remove both products with my Balea two phased eye makeup
remover. Also none of them irritates my eyes.
