I got my 3rd lobe pierced

What is your opinion about multiple ear piercings? Like it or you think it looks trashy and just too much? I recently saw an article on Forbes website about growing popularity of ear piercing between women over 40. It supposes to reflect some kind of middle age crisis. They can finally express themselves in different and slightly edgy way. I haven’t notice this trend in my country. We are more on traditional and conservative side. Teenagers are brave enough and trendy, women in 40s not that much. Not even in their 30s I dare to say, if I include myself.

I had some kind of desire to get a new ear piercing for about a year. It started with thoughts about getting a tragus. It looks different, daring, but still subtle enough. On the other hand, it is not very practical, especially to change a jewelry or wear my bellowed earphones. Wish crossed.

Fortunately I changed my mind and decided to get something more common – 3rd lobe piercing. I don’t regret it, I think it looks good and it is not very visible. I mean literally no one noticed it. Although it’s on my lobe, it is not that innocent piercing, because it went through my cartilage. That means that the healing process will be longer, for about 6 months or so. I need to clean it every day with salty solution and dry it toughly after. I can’t sleep on my pierced side, wear earphones or answering my calls. I shouldn’t take a bath or go to the swimming pool for some time. It’s not that bad, I got used to it.

I must admit I was little surprised by the pain level. It hurt more that I think it would, but it’s wasn’t that awful or unbearable. Piercing was done with the needle, which supposed to be far better than with a gun. I had really great overall experience in the piercing studio. They very professional and friendly, I would totally do it again.

It has been nearly two months since I got it and so far I had no complications. It hurts sometimes when I clean it or accidently touch it, but otherwise I don’t feel it at all. At first three weeks it got swollen sometimes, but now it calmed down. I need to schedule my appointment for check up and back of the earring replacement soon. I hope I will be able to order my ˝permanent˝ earring for later, when my ear gets healed. I really like some pieces from LeRoi body jewelry and hope they still have them.

Any wishes left? Yes and no. I’m in a phase of admiration of helix piercings. I think they look so cool, but still classy. But helix won’t be unnoticeable and I’m afraid I would look like a Christmas tree. If I were like 10 years younger…
