Kerastase: Fresh Affair dry shampoo review

I am not a big user of dry shampoos, but from time to time they can be really handy. My hair gets oily quite fast and sometimes I need that boost of freshness and volume, even if I just put it in a ponytail, it instantly makes me feel better. I have good experiences with drugstore dry shampoos, like Batiste and Colab, but I found them quite aggressive sometimes. Maybe I was just using them wrong or too often.

I decided to try something different and more expensive because I was curious what exactly can a fancy hair product do.

Kerastase Fresh Affair dry shampoo – it is kind to your hair and scalp, enriched with vitamin E, rice starch, and neroli oil. It is a lightweight fine powder spray that doesn’t leave a white residue, it instantly absorbs excess oil and leaves you with a clean feeling and fresh scent.

PROS:

  • gentle to my scalp, it never gets itchy afterward
  • gives you that cool and refreshed feeling
  • very fine mist doesn’t leave white traces
  • long-lasting, gradually releasing scent
  • beautiful packaging
  • a little goes a long way

CONS:

  • strongly scented (it mostly smells like lavender and a hint of neroli, quite masculine to me)
  • does not do much for the volume
  • too light for thicker hair
  • pricey

Maybe if I would spray it more, I would get better results, but consequently even stronger scent. I don’t want that the entire office smells my dry shampoo. I was hoping for a classier fragrance, not a strong lavender bomb. I really expected more, because I love other products from Kerastase and this shampoo had great online reviews. I will use it up, but will not repurchase it.
