Skincare products I currently use

My skin is sensitive combination, which means I’ve got an oily T-zone and some delicate dry areas like cheeks and under eye.  It’s a challenge to find just one face cream which can mattify oily areas and at the same time hydrate and nourish dry ones. Good cream and regular peelings are not enough for clear skin and to stay shine free. A little help is also needed from decorative cosmetics, but about that, some other time. Here are the product I currently use in my skincare routine: Vichy Normaderm Night detox This night cream is a real gem.  It’s my first night cream. I always thought, night creams are something unnecessary and for older people. But I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this. It’s a big difference if I use it or not. My skin gets super oily during the night, but if I use this before going to bed,  it’s much less oily the next morning. The difference is even bigger during warmer months, when the skin gets even more oily than usual. This cream ...

My retired fragrance collection

I’m that kind of person who gets occasionally attached to material things and one of my little obsessions is collecting perfume bottles. I don’t have a big fragrance collection at this moment, I own 5 perfumes (and planning to buy one soon J ). But I kept majority of the bottles of perfumes which I wore over the years. Each of them brings back some memories. They are not all favorites of mine, some of them I don’t like at all. Usually those are the ones that were given to me as a gift, but I kept the bottle anyway. Most of them are already discontinued. I tried to find dupes for some of them, but I was not really successful.   Katy Perry – Meow (2011)      This is an awesome fruity – fresh and very, very sweet scent. It smells like pear and vanilla. It’s too strong for me and gives that teenage girl vibe and a headache. It also irritates my skin, so I can wear it only on my clothes, what I don’t like. The bottle is too cute and far from being empty. ...

Sensuous Nude - Estee Lauder

About a year ago, I was in search for a new summer fragrance. Let me stress, that by the term ˝summer fragrance˝ I for sure don't mean super fresh, green, aquatic, citrusy or flowery types of perfumes. I’m generally a fan of oriental and gourmand smells with some exceptions and that kind of perfume is a bit hard to find for warmer days. They smell the best in fall and winter time, but get too heavy and can cause headaches, when the days get warmer. I searched for suggestions on the web (my favorite web page about fragrances is Fragrantica.com, on which I daily spend too much time) and the most frequent mentioned were: Dune (Dior), Eau des Marveilles (Hermes), Shalimar parfum Initial L’Eau (Guerlain), Opium Vapeurs de Parfum (YSL) and very famous Bronze Goddess (Estee Lauder) . I was not very happy with these recommendations. Some of them I like, but can be too expensive for me, or unavailable  from other reasons. Not all web sites ship to this part of Europe, or costs are just cra...

Relaxation before sleep – watching beauty YouTube channels

(taken from: Tati Westbrook Instagram)       Glam Life Guru - Tati Westbrook Tati from L.A. is my favorite ˝YouTuber˝. Her channel was first which I subscribed to and watched regularly. I found it by coincidence, when I was searching for… you know something. She posts videos every work day, so she is very involved in this YouTube thing, I would say it’s her primary occupation. She recently launched her makeup line, she collaborates with Amazon and some magazines.  I believe her reviews are honest, although things are often sent or given to her. Her descriptions, tests, comparisons and swatches of products are very good. Her videos look very professional. They are also very versatile, from testing the most ridiculously expensive products to the cheapest ones.   She mostly filmes in her (new) beauty room, once a week she’s testing how new makeup items perform during running errands. And those kinds of videos I like to watch the most. Recently her fia...
