First impressions: La Roche Posay Anthelios - Oil correct with SPF 50

I truly struggle with finding a good daily moisturizer with high SPF for my combo skin. Most of them are just too heavy and I get oily super easy. That is the main reason I often avoid wearing my SPF regularly, which is a bad thing.

The most success I had so far was with the brand Olival and their Professional face cream with SPF 50 (you can find my review here) and different products from La Rocher Posay (my review of Anthelios Anti-imperfections corrective gel cream with SPF 50 is here).

I loved their Shaka fluid!

So this year I decided to try another product from the La Roche Posay Anthelios line - simply named Oil correct. I like that the name is so simple. This is a gel with SPF 50 that supposedly visibly reduces pores and corrects imperfections.

Here are my pros and cons after the first week of use:

PROS:

  • it is not oily
  • doesn't leave white traces
  • does not irritate my skin
  • SPF 50
  • blends nicely with my makeup
  • practical packaging

CONS:

  • it takes very long to absorb completely
  • shiny finish that emphasizes all your imperfections

At first, its consistency will scare you because it is quite heavy and even oily when applied. That goes away quickly, but it still needs a lot of time to dry. At least that is how it works on my skin, especially for some strange reason on my cheeks. Now I'm scared that I will ruin all my good powders...

It leaves you with a noticeable and not flattering shiny finish that emphasizes all your pores and wrinkles and other imperfections. It is the total opposite of the effect that is promised on the label. The product has the same smell as all their sun creams from the line, nothing overpowering.

I will continue to use it daily if possible, maybe something will change over time. Well at least it is not greasy which is a huge plus, but it's not ideal either. So my search for perfect SPF continues...
