Happy, healthy and kind 2021!

So here it is, my wish list for next year. It is not sorted by importance; it has a random sequence. I was trying to be reasonable and realistic while writing it, so in the end, I can cross most of the things and feel great about it. This year was very different, unpredictable, and special, but also very great to me. I reached some important goals and that makes me really proud and happy, I just hope I can continue with full strength also in the upcoming year.  2021 be good to us! I want to: Worry less Spend more time with my friends Be a better partner Spend less time on social media Be able to run 5 km Get a cat from a shelter Get a conch piercing Change my haircut Try out new things and food Go to the spa Be a more rational spender

Best beauty findings in 2020

Well hello there and welcome! I usually don’t do yearly favorites or even monthly favorites but this time I’m going to make an exception. I just feel like sharing this with you although you will not be extremely surprised with my selection of products. This year most of my beauty related shopping was done on the internet, so that means a lot of relying on other people’s reviews and great marketing descriptions. The good thing is that I spent less, but still quite a lot. I hope that changes in the upcoming year. Let’s start with makeup.  1. Urban Decay – Naked honey palette:  I had this on my radar for almost a year before I finally decided to buy it and it became my absolute favorite eyeshadow palette. These colors are stunning, super easy to blend, and simply flattering. It is very versatile and definitely not boring.  2. Benefit – Bo ing cakeless concealer : the best thing for my under eyes I have ever tried! It never goes into my fine lines, has great coverage, and las...

Christmas in the bottle: Elixir des Merveilles Hermès

The first time I got the opportunity to try this perfume was in Zagreb, about three years ago. I was immediately blown away and told to myself that one day I just have to own it. It instantly reminded me of Christmas – a giant pine tree in the middle of the room and sweet orange slices drying on the old school radiator, waiting to become a part of holiday decoration. I read about it a lot on Frarantica, but was not entirely sure what to expect. I mean Oriental Fougere, what does that mean? Harmony of oriental components (warm woody and spicy notes) is refreshed with aromatic lavender, rosemary, coumarin, and oakmoss (Fragrantica.com) Sounds different, right? And sure it is. I finally bought it a few months later on a crazy hot day in one of the busiest shopping streets of Vienna. It is some kind of travel souvenir, but also a very special resident of my fragrant drawer who never disappoints and makes an impression each time I wear it. At first, I get a lot of fresh and spicy bitter ora...

Festive Yankee candles

Lately, I’ve become a big fan of scented candles, but I am a very sensitive and picky consumer. I hate those fake interpretations of certain scents. For instance, fake vanilla makes me nauseous, strong fragrances cause me headaches and I can’t stand overly sweet stuff…  This season I decided to order my first proper Christmas candles. I wanted something traditional and fresh, containing pines, maybe some dry fruit and spices. Something simple and familiar. And luckily this is exactly what I got. You can never be sure when picking candles online, they can be a total hit or miss. I always buy the smallest size, because I like to try new scents too often, but maybe I’ll be getting one of these in a larger size when they go on sale. Singing carols  – this candle belongs to their newest collection ˝Magical Christmas morning˝. At first, it had so weak throw that left me disappointed. For the first two hours or so, I couldn’t smell a thing, but after a while, it showed its tru...

Winter wardrobe update

I am not exactly sure when will I wear any of these, but I strongly believe that that day will come as soon as this year. Ok, we'll wait and see, just don't lose your hope. Mango leather bag - they have this similar large shopper bag every year in a variety of colors. I had it in my arms several times before but was never fully convinced to buy it because sometimes a material like this can look worn off and already old. If I get a chance to see it in person I might just buy it. Stradivarius semi-sheer polka dot shirt - this one looks chic and can instantly upgrade your jeans for some kind of festive event and also lack is always a great idea when you want to look more elegant. It is quite sheer so it requires some extra attention in the selection of your undershirt, but that is not an issue. Promod faux fur jacket - I bought this online, it tuns a bit large on me but I don't mind it that much. When I wear something thicker underneath it gets just right. The green is gor...

Chanel: Paris - Venise

Chanel has a special place in my perfume collection and I am sure a lot of people feel the same about their fragrances. It often gets misunderstood to be the most expensive and somehow reserved for pushy people. Well, at least I get that impression every time I browse Instagram. But it is not. Many mainstream fragrances reach higher prices and never get that snobby status.  Anyway, because of its reputation and my occasional lack of confidence I was very uncomfortable while buying it.  Paris - Venise  is not from their regular line but a part of  Les Eaux  collection which can be found only in selected stores and of course Chanel’s boutiques. Each of fragrances has its own background story and they are all beautifully connected with inviting marketing approach. What will that lady behind the counter think about me? Does she even care? Am I underdressed for this fancy drugstore? Stupid, I know… Paris – Venise  is fresh oriental in eau de toilette concentrat...

Sleek blush in ˝Keep it 100˝ and RT 213 Foundation blender brush

I remember a few years ago when eye palettes from  Sleek  were a must. They were on every beauty blog and I was drooling over them and admiring their versatility. In our country Sleek was available only online, influencers loved to stock up while traveling to London and made us all a bit jealous... ok, that was back then. Now we have almost forgotten Sleek in our stores and it’s not my primal choice of makeup when I go exploring. Their products are very visually appealing, but by my humble experience, filled with glitter and I think I’m just too old for that.  Long story short. A few weeks ago when I was trying to cheer myself up from all those bad Corona virus related news in a local drugstore, I noticed something new and very pleasant – new blushes from Sleek. I used to own one and loved it, so I was excited to check them out. I picked  Keep it 100  which is a lovely darker mat pink color, perfect for autumn. There were no testers available and the light in th...
