Valentino: Donna Acqua

I found a beautiful summery fragrance only in August, but I don’t mind. I think it might also work as good during winter in my hot and stuffy office. This is my first fragrance from Valentino; I always admired his products from far and just shyly give them a try. Where can I start? First big impression gives an elegant and heavy glass bottle; it is very similar to her big sister Donna, just thinner and taller. About her big sister, they have nothing in common. Donna is by my opinion heavy, powdery, floral and loud; Donna Acqua is fresh, sweet, lighter and fun. It is simple, floral fruity scent. I would also say it is sunny, happy and a bit girly. On Fragrantica.com is described as oriental floral, but I disagree, on me is pure fruity floral. I must admit I was drawn to it particularly because of the pear not, which is quite strong and long present. It slightly reminds me of Katy Perry’s Meow, but in lighter and mature way.  It is not very original, but similar to s...

Recent favorites

I usually don’t do the list of favorite products, but sometimes you need to do an exception. Some of them are so famous and multi-time reviewed, so I didn’t even bother to describe them fundamentally. All of them were great summer companions, so for all I can say that are heat proof and highly recommended. Balea beauty effect under eye gel patches I wanted to try some kind of under eye patches so badly and when I found them under drugstore brand I was so excited to try them. I mean prices of this stuff can be really up there and claiming about efficiency has no limits. I didn’t expect some kind of professional results, but just something to relax my under eye area. Mission accomplished! These patches have a long lasting cooling effect, which means that it lasts for the whole 20 minutes you have them on. This is surprisingly good for a budget, drugstore item. Patches are a bit thicker, rubber like and there’s no concern to tear them so easily. The only ˝problem˝ is that the...

Sponge cake with plums

Good evening everyone! Today I want to share with you something totally different and not beauty related. Because today its unofficial start of fall and my sugar dropped drastically (I’m trying to lose some weight…) I decided to bake a simple desert. I made a fruity sponge cake, to be more exact – sponge cake with plums. I hope I’ll write this recipe right, I have never translated something kitchen related before. Let’s get started! This is not a healthy desert; I believe that we all occasionally deserve some sugar. When you decide to treat yourself a bit, pick something you really like. Ingredients: 8 tbsp of white flour 8 tbsp of sugar ½ tsp of baking powder 7 tbsp vegetable oil 4 eggs fruit First you beat egg whites into firm show. Then you add egg yolks and sugar and mixed everything until the whole mixture grows a bit. After that you carefully add flour, mixed with baking powder. I usually do that with my wire whisk.  As you...

Artdeco Setting powder compact

I might just found my new best friend! After a long (and quite expensive) search for something that would truly help to mattify my T-zone I finally discovered powder that actually works for almost whole work day. I’m talking about compact setting powder from Artdeco. It is transparent finishing powder, which doesn’t give scary ghost-like look, but more polished and silky doll face. My other mattifying powder ˝Sexy mama˝ from The Balm has a claim that is transparent, but it shows up orangey and truly noticeable on me. It is good, but cakey and you really need a light hand with application. I discovered trough the years that face products from Artdeco are truly very good. All of them are made in Germany, so you need to pay a little bit more, but are trusty and high quality. As I said powder is hardly visible if any, still I believe you can overreact with application. It doesn’t contain oils, so it’s very appropriate for oily and sensitive skin. Manufacturer says...

Bad part of fall

As much as I love fall, there is also one thing that makes me going crazy. I understand that seasonal hair loss is normal for most of us, especially women supposed to be much more prone to it then men. But anyway, every year it makes me sad and concern, my self-esteem drops again and I became obsessed with looking at how many hair did I lost during washing, brushing, styling, sleeping… sounds crazy or familiar? As I grow older I noticed that my hair is not so full ant thick anymore and that additional hair loss makes me worried that will be noticeable. I believe that it is, at least to me. Other of course says that is not. Maybe they just don’t want to hurt me. I know that my ponytail in thinner that it used to be, it’s true and I’m not imagining it. I don’t consider myself to be depressed, just occasionally sad because of this. I try to console myself with pictures from the web. I’m not alone in this and many people have serious problems with hair loss, baldness… I just experience ...

Cover FX Mattifying primer with anti-acne treatement

This primer was recommended on a few web sites and supposed to work very well on oily and blemish prone skin, so this was a reason I bought it. I own it since April, which means that I tested it in a bit colder weather and also during summer. And simple conclusion is: it didn’t do anything for me. Nada, niente, zero J Luckily I only bought travel size. I really had high hopes for this, because products that I know from Cover FX have good reviews and are popular. My skin is always too shiny and this made it even greasier. It left me look like a total mess. I looked like a teenager who doesn’t know what she is supposed to do with her skincare. Total opposite effect than expected. I was looking for something that would ˝dry out˝ my T-zone a bit, like some moisturizers (from Bioderma) for oily skin do. I need to stress that I used this on its own or with my moisturizer and then set with pressed powder. I never used it under foundation. Product is transparent – gel like, thick and...

Nail polishes for Autumn part 2

Here's the second part of my selection of nail polish colors for fall. Previous post was dedicated just to OPI, this one we'll filled up with two other brands. Zoya is my second favorite nail polish. I love it, because it's less toxic and has a great selection of colors. I adore their texture polishes, named PixieDust, but they are horrible to remove. Well, nothing is perfect I guess.Their brushes are quite ok, but on forums I read that their formula can sometimes be too thick and hard to dry. I haven't experienced that yet, but if I do, I'll let you know. Enough of chatting, let's get to business. My selection from Zoya is from their Naturel deux collection from 2014. They both have cream formula and supposed to be a bit on the thicker side. I must admit that this turns me off a bit. It would be a shame to spent around 10-12€ on a bad polish. But how will I know if it's bad if I don't try and the colors are gorgeous. Marnie I would describe...
