Yankee candle - Rice milk and honey

When I saw new spring editions to Elevation collections on Instagram, I was so excited and just had to try it as soon as possible. Three days later I manage to get to Yankee store (which is like 110km away), asked for novelties and a few seconds later I bought my new rice milk and honey candle. My expectations were high; I thought it would smell like Kenzo Amour fragrance if you’re familiar with it. Instead it took in a bit different and more gourmand turn. This candle to me smells like milky  vanilla cream. I don’t get specific honey or rice note... At the beginning is comforting, creamy and very pleasant. Anyway after some time, there’s a problem - at least for me. Candle starts smelling like burning vanilla pudding. Initial brightness goes away and some kind of burning or smoky note appears along. Such a shame! Am I too sensitive? Maybe you’ll enjoy it more than I do; maybe it will smell better to you. So don’t give up of giving it a chance and try it. ...

Book review: Andrea Barber - Full Circle

In my childhood Full house was my favorite sitcom along with Fresh prince of Bel Air and Family matters. I really enjoyed watching one of these shows every afternoon. One episode doesn’t take you much time, unless you’re binge-watching. Content is often funny, relatable, relaxing and doesn’t require much thinking. I’m always happy when I accidently catch a re-run, it always brings back happy memories. I was excited when I saw the announcement on YouTube that another cast member of Full House will publish her book. Andrea Barber who played goofy and often special next door neighbor with specific clothing style decided to write her biography. She was never my favorite, I preferred DJ and Stephanie, but I always admired her confidence. I mean nothing can break Kimmy Gibbler! Sadly in reality this is not completely true. Andrea went through some very tough time in her life. Being a child actor was not easy. Kids in school didn’t like her that much and she was often being b...

Another collage of beautiful things

I know, it’s almost mid-February and my blog is still ˝resting˝. I felt guilt and laziness, so I decided to finally get myself into work mode. Today I’m presenting you beautiful things that recently caught my eye. Some of them I’m actually planning to buy eventually, some are just for looking. Let’s start with books and Brexit and I’m not joking. My favourite online bookstore is Bookdepository, based in England. By the end of this year, you can still buy books by great prices and with free worldwide shipping, but this might change. We don’t know what will happen, but if you do have a wish list, maybe you should place your orders in future months, just to be sure. I have three books on my list: 1. Maybe you should talk to someone – Lori Gottlieb . Lori tells us a story about how is to be a psychiatrist and how does it look like when a doctor itself needs a help. This was a very brief description. 2. Brother and sister – Diane Keaton . Famous actress writes about her childho...

New Year Resolutions

India Times We still have some time, but it’s better to be early than late, right? I decided to do this old fashioned way, to make a list and stick to is as tight as possible. I think there’s no need to explain my wishes and hopes. It’s a great opportunity to start over and just be better. We don’t need to be perfect, happiness is hidden in smaller victories. Happy 2020! Eat healthier Exercise Find a new job Drive more Try not to overthink certain situations Pass CAE exam Learn new things on Coursera Spend more time with my friends Read more Go walking in nature Buy a camera Get new ear piercing See a ballet show Go on a short trip Spend less time on the internet Cook more Be a rational spender Get out of my comfort zone more often

My Yankee candles

Ebony and Oak This one is my favorite and sadly discontinued. I should have bought the largest jar, but now it’s too late. Maybe one day they will make something similar. Anyway this scent reminds me on walk trough forest on warm fall day, accompanied with sound of fallen leafs underneath my feet. Moonlight It’s very pleasant and calming. To me this one smells like male cologne, but in a good way. It is not overpowering, which is very important to me, because I’m prone to headaches caused by heavy fragrances. I get a mixture of my beloved patchouli and refreshing citruses. Dried Lavender & Oak Another replica of male fragrance or walk-in to expensive high fashion store. It is stronger than previous two candles mentioned, but still not too strong to be enjoyable. I like it, but it’s not my favorite. I expected this to be different; I think lavender is quite fake and not as good as in some other candles, like ˝classic˝ Yankee lavender. Pain au R...

(Almost) empty jar: Origins matte moisturizer with willowherb

As a person with oily T- zone, I'm always on a hunt for good mattifying product. Greasy face, by my opinion, makes you look messy, sweaty and unattractive. Healthy glow on the other hand is something I like. This is my first product from Origins and based on reviews I had really high expectations. Let me just say that this moisturizer failed all possible tests. It couldn’t keep me matt, not even on the beginning. After a few hours I always looked terrible - super shiny and of course greasy. It didn’t work with primers, foundations or compact powders. What a shame! Luckily I bought the smallest jar. It has light, almost jelly like texture and absorbs very quickly, leaving that fresh feeling. That’s the only positive thing about it. And ok the packaging is cute, but I prefer containers with pump. Otherwise it is just like average drugstore moisturizer with heavier price tag. It has powerful and overly sweet smell, but that luckily goes away quickly. So overa...

BEAUTY IS LIFE: single eyeshadows in ˝Start˝ and ˝Jungle˝

I discovered BEAUTY IS LIFE by pure coincidence and often this type of discoveries can be the best. A few times per year I order my all kind of beauty products from a German website and there I found this, to me totally unknown and professional looking brand. With their endless selection of colors it somehow reminded me on MAC. That was my first impression. Latter on I discovered that the person behind the brand is German makeup artist Beatrix Isabel Lied and that she founded the company back in 1978 in Hamburg. After ˝goggling˝ some information, I think it is not well known in the beauty community, which is a shame. I hope it is more expended between professionals, because the quality is really great. I ordered two single eyeshadow. You just can’t find everything you like in a palette, so I love singles. And often I just put one shadow on my lid, so they are great for traveling too. 81c Start – gorgeous cool mauve mat. It is buttery smooth, very pigmented and can be...
